Happy Birthday Fleetwood Girls' Hub!

In September 2024, Fleetwood Town Community Trust extended its youth provision to provide a safe space for young girls locally. The project was driven by PCSO Lizzy Bradley who recognised the importance of females having a place where they could be themselves and seek guidance when they needed it.

As a trusted point of contact for young people in Fleetwood, Lizzy was able to capture their voices and design a needs-led programme. Having a particular passion for female empowerment, Lizzy sought out services whom she could work alongside to embed this ethos within Fleetwood Youth Hub. And so, the Empower Her Girls' Hub was born.

Coach and Shine have been a regular provider to the Girls' Hub since they first opened their doors. We have seen friendships blossom and confidence grow amongst the girls during this time. To be part of this project is a great honour and something of which we are truly proud. Our workshops have focussed on promoting resilience, self-care, recognising strengths and managing emotions to name a few.

An array of other services have worked alongside the Girls' Hub as championed by Lizzy. These have included female boxing, domestic abuse awareness, women's services and health and beauty business leaders. In a recent interview with the Gazette, Lizzy explained how tailoring a range of provision allowed for a more holistic approach for the girls “Empower Her is not just about teaching important skills, but about them feeling able to share concerns they might not tell anyone else.”

Being part of a programme that nurtures the strengths and independence of young girls has been a thoroughly rewarding one. The girls at Empower Her are a credit to themselves and will grow to become valued leaders within our community.

Special thanks to PCSO Lizzy Bradley for sharing her vision with us. Extended thanks to Fleetwood Town Community Trust and Lancashire Violence Reduction Network without whom the provision could not have been delivered.
